A fifteen-amino-acid sequence copied from a protective protein first found in gastric juice. Short, unusually stable in solution, and one of the most-cited research peptides for tissue integrity.
Studied for
- Tissue organisation & structural response
- Vascular & microcirculatory models
- Gut & mucosal research
- Inflammatory signalling & cellular stress
How it works in laboratory models
In laboratory models it acts across several signalling systems rather than one receptor: nitric-oxide and vascular signalling (the Src / Caveolin-1 / eNOS pathway), angiogenic responses involving VEGF and FAK, and the balance of cellular stress and inflammation.
